ADWEA 5-Year Electricity Planning Statement (2008-2012) update is based on the ADWEC’s base case peak demand forecast (most probable forecast scenario) for the Abu Dhabi Emirate. The base case peak system demand for Abu Dhabi Emirate will be expected to reach about 10,600MW in Year 2012. The estimated demand growth (2007-2012) excluding Mega Projects’ requirements is 7.6%. For
the same planning horizon, the estimated demand growth including Mega Projects is 14.8%. The demand requirements of the Mega Projects have significant influence on the updated load forecast model. As on May 2007, the demand outlook for the Northern Emirates (Fujairah & Ras Al Khaimah) is uncertain.
For the purpose of this 5-Year Planning Statement, it is assumed the peak system demand for Northern Emirates is non-firm and around 1,300MW for Year 2012.
The total system demand of Abu Dhabi Emirate & Northern Emirates including auxiliary loads & losses will be about 11,900MW in Year 2012. Based on the ADWEA’s updated statement of future generation capacity requirement (2007- 2012) inclusive Fujairah capacity, the total “available generation capacity” and “required generation capacity” is expected to be around 12,800MW and 12,500MW respectively in Year 2012.

ADWEA provides supervisory consultation services for the following major development projects, as well as medium and minor projects, mainly to assure implementation of ADWEA standard measure and specifications by private enterprises:

- Supply and installation of updated electrical meters, Phase "2" at 55 million dirhams.
- Augmentation and extension of 33KV Network in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi at 335,2 million dirhams
- Supply and installation of 33/11 KV main switching stations and modification of existing stations in the Western Region at 740,1 million dirhams
- Supply and installation of 11KV marine cables at AL Futaissi Island and adjacent islands at 94 million dirhams
- Replacement of 11KV switches and power grid at AD International Port Power Compound at 70,4 million dirhams
ADDC - 2008
- Augmentation and extension of 33KV Network in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi at 335,2 million dirhams
- Supply and installation of 3 nos. 33/11 KV switching stations and 33/11KV cables for grid connection, feeding loads of the final phase in Abu Dhabi industrial area " ICAD2" at 341 million dirhams
- Two 33/11 KV switching stations at Madinat Zayed ,West 16 and related works at 149 million dirhams
- Installation of 33KV cables and traffic signal cables and 33/11 KV package switching station required for power supply connection to Laborers Cities at Mafraq "F1,F2" at 55 million dirhams
AADC – 2007
- Augmentation & extension of 33 KV network Al Ain, at 387,20 million dirhams
- Supply and installation of 6 Nos. 33/11 KV main switching stations with 33 KV cables for connection with 33 KV network of 352,2 million dirhams cost
AADC -2008
- Augmentation & extension of 33 KV network and accessory cables in Al Ain "supply and installation of 5 Nos. 33/11 KV main switching stations), at 387 million dirhams
- Augmentation & extension of 33 KV network in Al Ain (supply and installation of 7 Nos. 33/11 KV main switching stations ) at 600 million dirhams
- Supply & installation of two 33/11 KV main switching stations with accessory cables for AL Ain Industrial area, at 315,7 million dirhams
- Supply & installation of 11/0,415 KV switching stations in AL Ain, at 103,3 million dirhams

- Formation of Inter measuring points ( with TRANSCO) and bulk consumption outlets at various locations in AD at 55.5 million dirhams

- Supply & installation of ductile iron water pipelines through different areas at east & west Lewa costing 100,5 million dirhams
- Water supply to AL Qilaa area, Sabkhat AL Reem and AL Somariya island at 64.5 million dirhams.

- Development of water system and pumping stations at different areas in AL Ain at 25 million dirhams

- Maintenance of old water system and house connections at Dahma,Khubaissi, Markhaniya and western region at 138 million dirhams.
